What we all now know is that services work best and deliver the best outcomes for families when parents are active and respected participants in their design and evaluation. For far too long and far too often the missing voice at the table of policy development and service design has belonged to parents. But the tide is now turning! Put aside notions of ‘industry-led’ service design, the new paradigm is based on concepts of co-design that is child, parent and family driven.
That’s why PeakCare has elected to allocate any profit generated from our Annual General Meeting and end-of-year celebrations this year to a fund that will be administered by the Family Inclusion Networks to assist parents with a lived experience of the child protection system to participate in conferences, workshops and similar events. It’s our way of helping to make sure that their voices are not missing at the table of policy development and service design.
