As NAIDOC Week begins on July 6, we honour and celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the Cygnet Folk Festival takes place—the Melukerdee people of the South East Nation—and acknowledge their deep and ongoing connection to Country.
Always was, always will be.

Billet Applications Open
Want to experience the magic of the festival in a deeper, more connected way—and receive Festival Tickets as a thank you? Consider becoming a Festival Billet Host!
This month, we’re shining a light on two wonderful billet stories:
Michael Gissing, long-time local legend, shared:
"Billeting is a great way to experience the Cygnet Folk Festival. It’s a special connection to the event, and it’s extra fun to meet musicians who can end up as good friends."
Michael hosted the fabulous Good Guy Hank, and they’re still in touch to this day!
And Jane, another dedicated host, welcomed two performers from Montana, USA in 2025 and said:
"It was such a joy to open our home to international artists. We shared meals, swapped stories, and still keep in touch. Hosting made the whole festival feel even more personal and connected."
These stories are just a few of the beautiful connections made through our Billet Program – a much-loved part of the festival experience.
- If you’ve got a spare room (or a comfy couch), we’d love to hear from you.
